DIRECTV Election HQ is back for the 2026 midterms. From November 2 to 4, DIRECTV customers with an eligible receiver can tune to channel 71 or 200 and watch CNN, Fox News, MS NOW and Newsmax side by side, with Associated Press results on the same screen. The catch is the hardware: it won’t show up in the DIRECTV app on phones, smart TVs or third-party streaming sticks.
Key facts (as of November 2026)
- DIRECTV’s Election HQ pop-up channel runs November 2–4, 2026, with a possible extension if counting drags on (DIRECTV, Oct. 28).
- It shows CNN, Fox News, MS NOW and Newsmax at once, plus live results for House, Senate and governor races from the Associated Press.
- Satellite customers need a Gemini or Genie receiver; streaming customers need a Gemini or Gemini Air device. Phones, tablets, browsers and smart TV apps are excluded.
What is DIRECTV Election HQ?
DIRECTV Election HQ is a temporary channel that puts four cable news networks and a live results board on one screen. DIRECTV announced its return on October 28, 2026, in a post on its own DIRECTV Insider site. It comes in two versions: an interactive results experience powered by the Associated Press, and a plain four-channel HD news mix.
The idea is simple. Instead of flipping between networks while races are called, you see all four at once. That matters on a night when 435 House seats, 33 regularly scheduled Senate seats and 36 governorships are on the ballot, according to DIRECTV and TheDesk.
Which networks are on the DIRECTV Election HQ screen?
The four-way mix is the same line-up DIRECTV used in 2024, with MSNBC now under its new name, MS NOW. Here is when each network’s main coverage begins.
| Network | Main election night show | Start (ET / GMT) |
|---|---|---|
| CNN | “Election Night in America” with Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper | 4 p.m. / 21:00 |
| Fox News | “Democracy 26” with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum | 6 p.m. / 23:00 |
| MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) | Not listed in the round-up | Check the network |
| Newsmax | Not listed in the round-up | Check the network |
Start times come from TheDesk’s October 29 round-up of network plans. Because the US left daylight saving time on November 1, 4 p.m. ET is 21:00 GMT and 22:00 CET.
Who can watch DIRECTV Election HQ?
Only DIRECTV customers using DIRECTV’s own hardware. The company says the channel is “not available through the DIRECTV app” on other streaming devices, smart TVs, phones, tablets or web browsers. StreamingBetter, which reported the restriction the same day, put it plainly in its headline: the channel is back, “but not for everyone.”
| DIRECTV service | Eligible device | How to open Election HQ |
|---|---|---|
| Satellite | Gemini or Genie receiver | Tune to channel 71 or 200, pick the banner on the Home screen or guide, or press the red button when a prompt appears on a news channel |
| Streaming (DIRECTV via internet) | Gemini or Gemini Air | Select the Election HQ banner on the Home screen or in the guide once it launches |
| DIRECTV app on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, smart TVs, phones or the web | Not eligible | Not available |
DIRECTV does not list an extra charge for the channel. However, you still need a package that includes the participating networks to follow the coverage in full, so check your plan before Tuesday.

How has Election HQ changed since 2022?
DIRECTV has used the Election HQ name before. For the 2022 midterms it launched on November 7 on satellite channels 71, 200 and 347, and the mix then included BBC World News alongside Fox News, MSNBC and CNN, according to a DIRECTV Insider post from that year.
In 2024 the channel came back as a limited test of streaming multiview, with Newsmax replacing the BBC. DIRECTV has since used the same multiview format for sports, business news and other genres, TheDesk reports. This year’s version keeps the 2024 line-up and uses channels 71 and 200 only.
Not on DIRECTV? Other ways to watch several networks at once
You have a few options, but none copies Election HQ exactly. Each one centers on a single news organization.
- Peacock: a multiview from 5:30 p.m. ET combines NBC News NOW, the Kornacki Cam and a live results board. Our guide to watching the midterm results live covers it alongside the free options.
- Fox One: a new Command Center screen pairs live Fox News coverage with results and race analysis. The service costs about $20 a month on its own, and some pay-TV customers get it included. Details are in our Fox News election night guide.
- CNN: CNN’s streaming subscribers get extra programming, including a live Q&A show at 7 p.m. ET. See our CNN election night guide.
- Free streams: CBS News 24/7 runs election coverage from 7 a.m. ET Tuesday to 6 p.m. ET Wednesday, and ABC News Live streams free around the clock.
