What is Euronews?
Euronews is a pan-European news channel that launched on January 1, 1993. It was set up in Lyon, France, by a group of European public broadcasters. The idea was a single channel covering Europe for Europeans, broadcast in several languages at once.
The channel has changed a lot since then. In March 2023, Euronews announced it would move its main editorial base from Lyon to Brussels, closer to the EU institutions it covers most. Today it runs editions in many languages, and the Euronews app lists 13 of them, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Turkish, Persian and Arabic.
Who owns Euronews?
Euronews is now privately owned. Portugal-based investment firm Alpac Capital completed its purchase of a majority stake in 2022, after the French government approved the deal. Before that, the Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris controlled the channel through Media Globe Networks, and NBCUniversal held a stake from 2017 to 2020.
The Alpac purchase drew scrutiny. In 2024, Hungarian outlets Telex and Direkt36 reported links between the deal’s financing and allies of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Euronews management and staff have said the channel’s editorial independence is maintained. Readers who want the full background can follow the sources at the end of this guide.

On the web
The simplest route is the live player on euronews.com. Choose the English edition, then open the live section. It plays in any modern browser on a laptop or desktop, with no sign-in needed. If the player does not load, the stream may be blocked in your country for rights reasons.
On your phone, tablet or Apple TV
The Euronews app on the App Store is free. Its listing promises Euronews TV live 24/7, on-demand video and push alerts for breaking news. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and the listing also names Apple Watch.
The listing has two details worth knowing. The English live stream is unavailable in Turkey and Singapore. On the Arabic, Persian and Turkish editions of the app, the live stream plays in English. On Android, search Google Play for the official Euronews app, published by Euronews. Our guide to watching live news on your phone compares it with other free news apps.
On a smart TV or streaming stick
Free ad-supported TV (FAST) services are the easiest way to put Euronews on a big screen.
- Roku (US): A February 2025 Cord Cutters News list of The Roku Channel’s live line-up included Euronews English in the news section. See our guide to international news channels on Roku for setup steps.
- Samsung TV Plus: A September 2026 channel list from tech site YTECHB showed Euronews on Samsung TV Plus in the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal and Australia. It did not show Euronews in the US list.
- LG Channels: LG’s 2025 European news push included a Euronews channel in Italy. Euronews also lists LG Channels among its distribution partners.
- Apple TV: Install the Euronews app from the tvOS App Store.

In the United States
Euronews has had a US streaming presence since at least 2022. That February, Euronews said its English edition had launched on Fubo in North America. It also named Pluto TV, Roku, Tubi, Plex and Distro TV as existing North American partners. Line-ups have shifted since then: when we checked Pluto TV’s US news category in October 2026, Euronews was not listed. Your best free options in the US are the Euronews website and app, and The Roku Channel.
In the UK and Europe
In the UK, Samsung TV Plus is the clearest free option on a TV, alongside the website and app. Euronews says its English feed is also carried by pay-TV and IPTV providers in many European countries and in the UK. Its 2024 distribution report named partners such as Bouygues Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Zattoo, Joyn and Waipu TV. Search your provider’s channel guide for “Euronews.”

What you’ll see on Euronews English
Euronews is built around European affairs. Expect heavy coverage of the European Parliament, the European Commission, EU summits and national elections across the continent. It also covers world news, business, climate, technology, travel and culture.
The channel’s style has always been a little different from US or UK news networks. For years, many Euronews bulletins used voiceover rather than an on-screen anchor, so the same pictures could serve several language editions at once. Its long-running “No Comment” segment shows news footage with no narration at all. Other regular features include The Cube, which checks viral videos and social media claims.
Formats and show names change, so check the Euronews website for the current line-up. We have not listed show times because Euronews does not publish a fixed schedule in one easy place, and it differs by edition.
Euronews vs France 24 and DW
Euronews is one of three big European news channels in English. France 24 English is backed by the French state and focuses on France, Africa and the Middle East. DW News is Germany’s international broadcaster, strong on Central and Eastern Europe. Euronews is the only one of the three that is privately owned and the most EU-focused.

Troubleshooting the Euronews live stream
- “Not available in your region.” Euronews blocks the English live stream in some countries for rights reasons. It says this applies to Turkey and Singapore. Use a local TV provider that carries the channel instead.
- The stream plays in the wrong language. Check the edition selector on the website or in the app settings. Each edition has its own live feed.
- The channel is missing from a FAST app. FAST line-ups differ by country and change without notice. Search the app for “Euronews” rather than scrolling the guide, and try another service if it has been dropped.
- Buffering. Lower the video quality if the player allows it, or switch from Wi-Fi to a wired connection on a TV.
Avoid unofficial “Euronews live” streams on random websites. They are not licensed, often break, and can carry malware. The official website and app are free anyway.
