CNBC Ambition is a new free, ad-supported CNBC channel that went live on Prime Video on October 27, 2026, and reaches The Roku Channel on November 3. It is not a live business-news feed. Instead, it runs CNBC’s long-form shows about founders, money and the very rich, around the clock and at no cost.
Key facts (as of October 2026)
- CNBC Ambition launched on Prime Video in the US on October 27, 2026, and joins The Roku Channel on November 3, 2026.
- It is one of four new free channels that took Versant’s free streaming portfolio to 13 channels, announced October 28, 2026.
- The channel shows CNBC series such as Billion Dollar Buyer and Secret Lives of the Super Rich; it does not carry CNBC’s live market coverage.
What is CNBC Ambition?
In other words, it’s a FAST channel, which means free ad-supported streaming TV: a linear channel you can open like cable, with ads but no subscription. Versant, the company that now owns CNBC, describes the channel’s focus as entrepreneurship, innovation, building wealth and the lifestyles of successful founders.
At launch, the line-up leans on familiar CNBC primetime titles. According to Versant’s announcement, viewers will see episodes of:
- Leader’s Playbook
- Millennial Money
- Secret Lives of the Super Rich
- Billion Dollar Buyer
- Adventure Capitalists
- Empires of New York
So if you liked those shows on cable, you can now leave them running for free. However, if you want Squawk Box, Closing Bell or live market numbers, this isn’t the channel for you.
Who is behind the new CNBC channel?
CNBC is no longer part of NBCUniversal. Comcast spun off its cable networks into a new public company, Versant, and the split was completed on January 2, 2026. After that, Versant shares started trading on Nasdaq on January 5 under the ticker VSNT. Its networks include CNBC, CNBC World, MS NOW, USA Network, E!, Syfy, Oxygen and Golf Channel.
Versant has been building a free streaming business on the side. In January 2026 it completed its purchase of Free TV Networks, the owner of the 365BLK and Outlaw broadcast networks and several free streaming channels. Then, on October 28, it also announced four new channels at once. Dave Pietrycha, Versant’s chief revenue and business officer, said “growing our digital platforms and reaching new audiences” is central to the company’s plan.
When does CNBC Ambition arrive on each service?
The channel rolls out in two steps. First, Prime Video got it, and then The Roku Channel follows a week later. Here are the dates for all four new Versant channels, as announced.
| Channel | Based on | Prime Video (US) | The Roku Channel |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNBC Ambition | CNBC | October 27, 2026 | November 3, 2026 |
| Oxygen Murders of America | Oxygen | October 27, 2026 | November 10, 2026 |
| Snapped | Oxygen True Crime | October 27, 2026 | November 17, 2026 |
| Botched | E! | October 27, 2026 | November 17, 2026 |
Versant also said two Free TV Networks channels already on Prime Video, Outlaw and 365BLK, join The Roku Channel on November 10 and November 17. In addition, the company plans more platforms “in the coming months” but hasn’t named them yet.

If you’re new to Roku, our guide to news channels on Roku walks through the free options and where they sit in the guide.
Coming soon: the NewsLive streaming app. We’re building one subscription for live international news on Android, Roku, Fire TV and desktop. The service is under development — follow NewsLive for launch updates.
Can I watch live CNBC for free instead?
Not in full. The main CNBC network, with its live market coverage, still needs a pay-TV login or a live TV streaming plan. For the official options and prices, read our CNBC live stream guide.
If you want free live business TV, though, there are other choices. For example, Bloomberg runs streams on its own site and apps; our Bloomberg TV guide covers them. You can also browse every free and paid option in our streaming news section.
Why does this launch matter for news viewers?
Above all, it shows where cable-news brands are heading. For example, free channels give owners a way to reach people who will never pay for cable. Because news companies now sit in smaller, separate firms, they also need new income outside pay TV.
CNBC is not alone, either. Our guide to LiveNOW from FOX covers a free live news channel from Fox, and NBC News NOW streams free on several services. In short, the free tier of news keeps growing, but most of it is clips, archives or a single live feed rather than full cable channels.
