- Go to Streaming Channels (or Search on newer menus).
- Type “CNN” and select the CNN app.

This is the best choice if you already pay for cable or a live TV service, because you get the full CNN channel at no extra cost. In the CNN app, open Network TV and select Connect TV Provider. Then, on your phone or computer, go to CNN.com/activate and enter the code from your TV screen. Finally, pick your provider and sign in.
Subscribing to CNN All Access in the app
If you have no TV provider, All Access is the cheaper path. You can sign up directly in the Roku app, although you will type your email with the remote, since CNN does not offer QR-code sign-up on Roku. All Access streams live CNN newscasts from morning to night. Note that some hours carry CNN International or CNN Headlines programs rather than the exact cable schedule.
Can you watch CNN on Roku for free?

Which live TV services carry the CNN channel?
If you would rather replace cable completely, several live TV services carry the CNN channel and have Roku apps. As of October 2026, those include Sling Blue (from $45.99 a month), YouTube TV ($82.99 a month), Hulu + Live TV and DIRECTV’s MyNews pack. Once you subscribe to one, you can either watch CNN inside that service’s app or use its login to unlock the CNN app.

CNN on Roku not working? Quick fixes
Most problems come down to software or sign-in. Try these steps in order:
- Update your Roku: go to Settings, System, Software update, then Check now. The CNN app needs Roku OS 15.1.0 or later.
- Restart the device: go to Settings, System, Power, then System restart.
- Re-link your provider: sign out in the CNN app, then repeat the CNN.com/activate steps with a fresh code.
- Check your package: if CNN is not in your TV plan, the provider login will not unlock it.
